I have two computers side-by-side, one is hooked up to the internet by a verizon fios modem.....?

I have two computers side-by-side, one is hooked up to the internet by a verizon fios modem and the internet works fine.



but im trying to hook the one beside it up to the net but i have no clue how.



I have all the stuff i need, i have 1 modem, 1 D-Link DI-514 wireless router, alot of cat5 ethernet cables.



And both of my computers are windows 2000



So please help if you can.

make connection like:



modem-router-pc 1..pc2..



you have to make workgroup in both the pc(should be same).



go to control panel and run network setup wizard in both the pc's (one by one and you need to restart your machins).you should be able to see your machines ( network places) now go for sharing and permissions do as per your requirement.

If your other computer has a wireless adaptor in it just look for available networks in the area and find yours. You will then double click on it and it should ask you for the password. It is located on the side of the modem/router from Verizon. After doing this it should be able to go on-line.
