Myself and a friend had this conversation the other day. Some people think that computers can only continue to amaze. Some think computers will one day be able to break the space time continuum and send us through time. Some think computers will soon spawn AI and take over the world. What do you guys think?

In my opinion, I think that computer technology will continue to grow. It will open up new doors to other technologies as well. For example, teachers, engineers, even law makers will benefits from computer development.
But, even though there will be a lot growth in the industry, government and companies around the world will restrict what we can do with our own home computers. For example, today most ISPs have shut down port 80 in order to stop home internet users from running web and POP e-mail servers. This is a restriction not practice by all ISPs, but it is a certainly demonstrate how the freedom of computer tech will limit to. Also there are several web sites that have been victims of governments around the world. Well, that demonstrates that we do not have freedom of speech and press. Then we always have possibility of major corruption in the technology. For example, virus, technical crashes, etc, etc.
So, I believe that computer industry will grow and grow and grow. With that growth there will be some limitations to what we can do as well.

Heh, sometimes i think about this myself. It seems that computers ARE getting smarter AIs every day, however, remember that computers can only do as they are told. Without proper programming, they won't take over the world...sorry =(
